Well, I wish I could say this trip went off without any hitches, but how much fun would that be?! Last night we got a text from Air India saying that our flight was delayed out of JFK from 2PM to 7:30PM. Kinda a bummer because that would put us in Delhi around 7PM and then we would have a 5 hour drive to Jaipur getting us there late! But whatever. Kyle has never been to NYC so that now 9 hour layover could be cool to see some city. So last night I threw together some quick plans for baggage drop off & activities (airport wasn’t an option because we flew into Newark and out of JFK), oh, and a couple pieces of warm-er clothes. Fast forward to arrival at Newark today.... we get another message and phone call that our flight was delayed another 2 hours. So we ended up having 11 hours between flights. With all the issues between India and Pakistan over Kashmir right now they are redirecting flights to not fly over Pakistan and Air India is having all their flights stop in United Arab Emirates first causing delays. Anyways, delay is great for seeing NYC but I think this is terrible for our sleeping to get on schedule with India time. We were, however, able to pack in A LOT of NYC highlights in our short time here. We dropped our bags off at a store near grand central station and headed for Rockefeller Center. Had lunch at Bills Burgers (got huge burgers which I devoured). We had to get some red meat in before we were in the land where cows are sacred so they don’t eat their meat ;). After that we went to top of the rock. From there we walked to Times Square and then to Central Park. What a beautiful day for Central Park it was! Lots of fresh powder from this morning, but the sun was out and it was nice! I decided it would be fun to do a snow angel in Central Park..... it was fun..... until my pants were soaking wet and really cold, haha!! I’d definitely do it again though! From there we took the train down to the 9/11 memorial and got to see the new mall and building that’s been built since last time I was here. On the way back to get our bags we walked around Grand Central Station. Thankful for the delay today, but praying we aren’t struggling too bad tomorrow!!!
