Where do I even start- it has been the longest day ever! I guess I will start with we made it here okay- yay! Thanks to ambien we both were able to get some sleep on the plane, but it was still a long flight. We arrived later than expected which forced us to go straight to our Sydney bike tour after dropping our bags off at the guest house we are staying. We ended up being slightly late, but were so pleased to learn that we were the only ones on the tour for the day! So we basically got a private tour of Sydney with our own personal photographer on hand. It was very awesome- if butt soreness is any indication of biking fun we had a 10 (or at least me... I can barely sit!). Highlights of what we saw: Harbour Bridge, Opera House, Darling Habour, Luna and Hyde parks, the botanical gardens, Mrs. Maquaries chair & more. There are sooooo many reasons this city rocks!! Of course I could say how amazing the weather and people are (they really are!), but aside from that, 1. They go into work around 7:30 or 8 and leave at 3:30 (and if they work longer they just take a day off later in the week-and so many people work from home). Not that we don't LOVE our jobs at home (in case Brett/Jay/Maddie read this, lol), but that is a pretty sweet deal! 2. The people here are really good looking. Seriously single people- move to Sydney (trust me on this one)!!!!!!! Example- we have yet to see one obese person under 40. 3. It is gorgeous (I'll let pictures do the elaborating here). We could totally live here......... If only everything (I mean EVERYTHING) wasn't soooo EXPENSIVE!! 3 soft drinks and an ice cream cone from a convenient store will cost you $20+ USD. A gallon of gas= $5.50. We have been sharing a lot of meals to make up for this. Anyways, pictures from bike tour are below.
After the bike tour we chewed the fed with some locals at a German pub, and then caught sunset along the harbor (yes, we are picking up on the Aussie lingo quickly- "chew the fed" is my fav so far!). After going from a hot day to a freezing cold night we shivered our way home around 11 pm and FINALLY got to take a shower and get in a real bed!! Fall in love with these shots we caught below.....
Your trip already sounds AMAZING and it's only day 1!!! What a sweet deal that you got a personal tour of the city...those shots are definitely frameables...but I bet you'll have a lot more solid photos to come! (ex: red pants zip-lining or scuba diving, or car racing down a dirt mountaint)
ReplyDeleteMy friend who was just in Aussie Land told me how crazy expensive it was, but he also mentioned that the minimum wage was ridiculously high compared to ours so I guess it would balance out. Missing you at the office...just glad I've got my gnome to keep me some company :)
Keep posting! This was such a great start to a Friday morning!
